Naira has no gender

When first reading this plays Program, I was not sure what to expect from this play. Thinking things were going to be dull and boring i sat in the theater of Backdoor Playhouse, slouching as i dropped my backpack on the floor below me.

The play actually came out to be very entertaining and actually made me laugh a few times. the characters were on point with their lines. I hadn't really noticed any mess ups or missed lines; maybe once or so.

The play was about Aina and her husband, Otunla, who are engaged to be married. Only problem is, Ainas' parents aren't supportive of the new ways of marriage. Her parents still want the traditional, expensive and extravagant weddings. But Aina would rather have a small marriage due to their financial situations. Her friends Dokune and Debbie attempt to figure out a way for them to get money for the wedding but they really didn't come up with anything.

Most of the play dealt with Ania and her parents arguing and bickering over the wedding and the lack of money. fast forward to the end of things they DO end up getting married regardless of the parents disappointment of not having a big expensive wedding and they live happily ever after, or close to it.

Probate Season now at an end

This year, of course, has been my first year in college. I was able to attend three Probates this year. Probates are something NPHC fraternities and sororities do. It is the coming out of the new members. This past month, i have been able to witness the Ques, Alphas, and Zetas come out. They have all been pretty interesting with parties following soon after for the Ques and the Alphas. I have to say that the Alphas had the best probate this year. They weren't as late as the other frats and sors. and had a lot of stepping and interesting things. Their party was also quite interesting with quite a few fights, ha. The first Caucasian ever to join a NPHC frat here at tech also came out this Thursday. Everyone was pretty excited about that, and he seemed very happy. I thought it qwas pretty cool besides the cold and the long waits.

December is here and that means Christmas!

Hmm, so now Christmas time has come from around the corner. The month of December has finally landed and everything becomes all Jolly and Merry... except many people now a days are trying to remove the whole "Christmas" thing and replace it with... "Holiday". Why? I feel as if its because society and government is trying to remove "Christ" from our country - slowly but surely. I understand other country's or "religions" celebrate Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, but really there is no need to remove the term "Christmas" just so we wont "offend" anyone. If you're out shopping in the month of December, then there is a 9 out of 10 chance that you're going to be CHRISTMAS shopping, not "Holiday" shopping. You buy a CHRISTMAS tree -not a Holiday tree. People sing CHRISTMAS carols - not Holiday carols.

I could only imagine if society really does manage to totally remove Christ from Christmas or even America, how things would change and are changing. When they removed Christ from our schools kids began shooting each other ha. Anyways the thought of replacing Christmas with Holiday is just dumb sounding.

All i have to say is Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Review on Evaluation readings

After reading the three review articles I feel pretty prepared to begin writing my review paper. As to what exactly I will review on, I'm not quite sure. Going back to the reviews, I saw that they used great vivid details and described their products/experience very well. The Dawson's Creek review spoke about the T.V show which was said to have been different from the traditional themes of most of the shows out during its air date. It described the shows plat, its characters, and many issues that occurred throughout the show.

With the second reading, covering the Pizza Joint it was very informative and really explained a lot regarding the restaurant and how they prepared their food.

The Harry Potter review really told a lot about the movie and what and why things happened. They went in depth on the producer of the movie also.

2009 4th Annual Stepshow

Alex and I attented the Step Show this year together. TTU NPHC and Minority Affairs presented the Step show in the DerryBerry Auditorium October 20, 2009. The step show was pretty interesting. Some of the performances were really cool and entertaining while others were pretty boring and seemed to have no plot behind them what so ever. There were many Black Fraternities and Sororities from TTU as well as other schools performing. The show was quite lengthy going from 8:30-11:00 something. There were a few "technical" Difficulties and such and a lot of intermissions between each acts. As far as performances, I feel as if the Kappas from MTSU did the best. They had a Steve Urkle themed skit with good stage props and a very entertaining performance. I didn't stay until the very end to see who won, but I'm pretty sure the Kappas won. I'm looking forward to checking out other step shows this year and other years. It was all pretty entertaining and fun, seeing how and what a lot of the Greek Organizations do during their time together.

Page 555 Reading...

I never really took the time to consider how important blogs could be or how important they are in todays society. Many People think blogging is pointless or something bored people does. but it seems as though blogging is a way for people to really give it to the "man". People can blog and put out the information that the news are to afraid to put out. Blogs are like the small things in life that create the "big picture" of things. When CNN is afraid to discuss on certain topics you can bet a blogger somewhere has put out the information National news centers aren't releasing.

Client Intake Form: Church vs No Church

So the Client Intake Forms Professor Andy handed our English 1010 class today contained two sides, One from a church organization and one from Helping Hands. The Helping Hand form seems like the best and most "appropriate". IT asked good questions regarding their financial history and previous visits meanwhile the Church intake form was just interested in their church attendance and religious view primarily. I think as if that's stupid, to some point. I could see why some of the questions are exceptional; seeing if they have any issues or something. But when they asked about whether they went to church or not and where they think they will spend eternity is pointless and dumb.

Many "Christians" tend to push non believers away with similar methods that this church organization used for their Intake Form. Rather then asking financial information, maybe some questions asking on how they're doing or what their view on Christ is... but not all of their questions. Being so loud about it and unapproachable in some form. Many people probably feel convicted or bad when having the "bible" or the word pushed on them.

15 minute freewrites

The first time i heard "that" sound... it brought chills to my body. it just seemed as though "that' sound set my mind at ease and comfort. It was when i was in 7th grade. Thats when it all really hit me. I really wanted to learn how to make "those" sounds. I was in church and they were playing this song and out of no where i noticed the guitarist as he shredded away on his guitar during a solo. That was the sound that brought chills to my body. That was what i wanted to learn how to do. I took the plunge and and bought me a guitar, actually i didnt buy it i asked for one for christmas. they got it for me and i became obsessed. I was always thinking about it and playing my guitar. trying to figure out new songs and learn as much as i could as fast as i could. OF course i knew i wasnt going to be able to just pick up a guitar and start shredding like the guitarist from my church, i knew it was going to take hard work to even get anywhere near sounding "decent". What i didnt know was, it was going to be so painful. My fingers burned so horribly, it felt as if they had tiny cuts in them..............Music mainly the guitar just had a serious impact on me. The way he moved his hands and the way his facial expressions went with the notes he played i wanted to learn it all ... i wanted to learn how to do what he was doing. it amazed me. It wasnt only his playing that gave me chills, it seems like any song i heard that had a nice solo to it gave me the chills.... oups 15 mins up.

When i was younger I loved Disney channel. I would always say to my self "i could do that..." or "hes not that funny...". I figured I should try to become a Disney channel star. Soooo instead of doing auditions and casting calls and joining my schools seasonal plays and such i picked up a camera and started making videos and short clips of "random" things that pops up in my mind. At first i wanted to try and become a youtube celeb but now that i've tried and saw that it doesnt work how i thought it would. it seem

free writing sucks... i guess im supose to write of... wait web design graphics, all of that good stuff. IT all reminds me of my love of the guitar and such. When i see a design or a web site or some sort of graphic i just see things differently ten what other people might see. i visualize the process and steps that mightve gone into creating that design. With graphics and web design, i feel as if i could just release my creativity easier then doing this writing or some other form of "art". MY love for design and graphics started from playing video games actually, i would go on different clans online forums and sites and notice their "sigs" or graphic signatures. They all had cool images and graphics with their names and i wanted to learn how to do it too. So i asked how they did those and their reply was "photoshop". It took me a few months to figure out how i could get my own copy of "photoshop" and i didnt realize how complex this program would be. But me, i went ahead nad taught my self and bascially lived in photoshop, i learned all of the vernacular of the program... pixels, opacity, marquee, layers. I took the photoshop world into my everyday life. Instead of saying feet or inches i would say pixels.

Political, Spiritual, and Personality results...

MY personality Test Result:

INFJ

I guess it fits me pretty good. Im not a very Extrovert type of guy, i'm usually the "shy" one in the group... or the really quiet one.
Im not going to go and "holler" at some cutie, lol. and Im really chill and laid back. And im not sure about that other stuff lol.
----------------------------------------
MY Political Test results:
Economic Left/Right: -2.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.03

Im not really sure exactly what all of that means... but I think its good since im within the Fence that Professor Andy talked about.

----------------------------------------
Do you have a spiritual belief or practice?

Yes.

Is belief itself a problem?
- No, belief isnt, but "religion" is.

How important is tolerance of differing beliefs in regard to this topic?
- Its pretty important to be able to respect and tolerate others beliefs and practices.

Do you believe in a divine being or higher power?
- For sure.

How do you relate (or not) to this concept of a higher power?
- What you mean?

What is the relationship between the physical and spiritual world?
- They're both intermixed, they run into each other daily.

How important (or not) is spirituality to your personal identity?
- I feel it should be real important becasue usually the way people are in life reflects their beliefs and morals.

What is your attitude to people whose views on spiritual matters differ from
your own?

- Its whatever, I dont judge anyone or think differently about them.

Do you believe your spiritual beliefs (or lack thereof) continue to change
over time or generally stay the same? What is the importance of change or
its lack?
- I think My belief stays the same.

Us and Them

I'm sure everyone feels like they're both part of the "us" and "them" group in life. The "us" would be the people that we're use to or that we find normal, while the "them" would be anything BUT normal, those people who are different or not like "you".

In the memoir "Us and Them" , David feels as if the Tomkeys are the "them". He felt as though they were weird and different because of their beliefs and customs. He was some what prejudice towards them... but in the end he learned and figured out his true ways.

In many ways everyone is and could be considered a "them" when it comes to todays society. If you dont dress this way you could be a "them", if you dont talk this way, you could be a "them", If you have done this or that... you're probably a "them". For me, Being a "them" is good. Id rather be a "them", Id rather be different when it comes to some things... actually a lot of things.

Us and Them was a good Memoir also. pretty intriguing... good stuff.

People and being "afraid"...

So I figured, since i have to do this blogging stuff as a grade... I might as well blog about the things that goes on in my mind. I'm not talking about any psycho crazy killing stuff... but that serious thinking type stuff, like Why DID the chicken cross the road... or why do people act certain ways and do certain things. Why are so many people "fake", why are so many people afraid to be them selves, why do they follow others rather then doing their own thing? I figured, like i said, that people are just scared... afraid to do them, they're afraid to say whats on their mind and speak truth on things; They'd rather just go with the flow of things instead of making a flow them selves. They probably feel as if things would be easier to just travel the path that's already been traveled. People just seem to do things no-a-days to "fit in" or be "accepted". You have to be bold and different to get anywhere in life, no actually, you just have to be you, and not worry about others.
Another thing ive noticed with some people, is how they are afraid of change... or trying new things. Those people who, in the past have been hurt and always holds on to that pain because they're to0 afraid to try again. Maybe someone was in bad relationships in the past and because those went wrong they're afraid to give the next person a chance, even if that person could be something great to them. Once I saw this poster on a while and it read: "If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done.", and I thought about people who really want things or want things to change but they're too afraid to change things or change their lives around. If you want change, you cant sit around doing the same thing you've been doing in the past... if you do the same thing you're always going to get the same thing. If you keep dating "McA-holes", then try talking to new people, If you keep running into that chair...then try walking a different direction, etc etc. You get my point.
Lastly, I think the reason why many people are afraid of change, trying new things, being them selves, and anything else you could be afraid of... is because they're afraid of failure. I know I've been afraid of failure plenty of times. But I've never let that fear of not succeeded keep me from things. If you fail, go back look where you messed up at or what you could've done better and try again. Dont ever just quit, Stop being afraid of things. Letting your fears get the best of you actually brings the worst of you. That's probably why the chicken can never really cross the road in life, it was to afraid...

What IS my history with writing?

I figured everyone has some sort of history when it comes to writing, I mean, we all have been writing and stuff since kindergarten. Cat, Dog, Mom and so on and all of that good stuff.
As for me, I design and create web sites for various people and usually I always end up writing or coming up with content for their site. Although I'm not really fond on the idea of writing content for web sites, it isn't that bad. The content makes the site most of the time so therefore it’s all gooooood.
I've been doing this for about 3 years and although I don't consider myself to be a pro or anything I feel I'm pretty decent... You know, I can sound smart and sophisticated when need to be, but most of the time I feel like that’s a little too much so I just write exactly how I'm thinking it...
